I don't know when I'm gonna come back down to earth but I don't wanna. I missed half of Steve Burns' set, but what I did see was great. I liked Clinic first few songs but I kinda got lost after that, though there were a few others that I liked towards the end of their set. I'll definitely check out what they're like on record and I've wanted Steve's album for a while now anyway.
Then there was the Lips, who even saying it I can't describe it in words would not do them justice. I was expecting it to be the greatest thing in the world. Ever. But it was so much better than that. I'd say the highlights were Race For The Prize, Seven Nation Army, Yoshimi, The Spark That Bled, The Gash, Waitin' For A Superman, The Golden Path, Lightning Strikes The Postman, Do You Realize??, Happy Birthday, Fight Test and Breathe, but as you can see I just named the whole set. Everything about it was amazing; Steven saying "Hello Mancunians" and "Thank You" in his helium voice, Steven looking up at the one of the videos I can't remember exactly what was happening but it involved women, use your imagination..for a second he actually seemed into something more than he was the music, but like I said it was a second, Steven Drozd in general (good god does the man fucking ROCK), Steven walking across the stage towards his guitar/keyboard set up in that black coat (sorry, but the man looked even more fuckin beautiful!), giant balloons and the popping there of, Wayne's Arnie speech, the public service announcement - Do not snort your own brain..just enjoy The Flaming Lips, "let me get some more fuckin' blood.." (Wayne), Wayne dancing to whatever music was on before one of the sets (probably the Lips' set), the strobes in Lightning Strikes The Postman..EVERYTHING. I urge you to check them out whether its live or whatever, just check 'em out. You can listen to the new album, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots at flaminglips.com.
I can't remember the how exactly the set list went but they played

If you don't know who The Flaming Lips are, go to www.flaminglips.com, scroll down a little bit to where it says 'new album out now' and click on the audio player link and you can listen to the new album 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots' (plus some b-sides and videos). Or you can just go out and buy any Flaming Lips album (I'd recommend you work your way backwards). Trust me, you'll thank me later.
