As two referees from Smackdown raised John Cena's arm and two referees from Raw raised Batista's arm, Vince McMahon came out to clear up the situation. A minute earlier, both Cena and Batista tumbled over the top rope and landed on the floor at the same time.
McMahon approached the ring with his usual over-the-top comical stride. They he leaped and dove under the bottom rope to slide into the ring. His right thigh and knee hit the ring apron with considerable force as he slide under the bottom rope. He then attempted to stand up right away, but leg buckled underneath him. He quickly clutched at his knee and realized he couldn't stand.
Rather than draw attention to himself, he swallowed hard, didn't sell any pain he was experiencing, and put his hands on his hips. The referees from each brand explained their stance. Then Charles Robinson bent over and listened to McMahon's decision. Meanwhile, one of the other referees yelled, "Restart it!" Batista then grabbed Cena and threw him over the top rope. Cena reentered the ring and threw Batista over the top rope. Those two top rope tosses may or may not have been part of the plan originally.
Robinson then walked over and told ring announcer Howard Finkle what McMahon told him. Then Finkle announced that the match was officially restarting. Cena went for an FU, but Batista blocked it and slammed Cena to the mat and tossed him over the top rope.
Off camera, McMahon was discretely helped out of the ring and not shown or acknowledged again.
