After reporting the backstage incident between Ric Flair and Vince McMahon, fans wondered why Vince would get so mad about the "bleeding virgin" comments when the company has been known to get far more outlandish on television.
PWTorch.com reports that McMahon was most notably upset due to having affiliates and sponsors in Madison Square Garden for the show. When someone invites clients to a show, the hope is that the show will convince them that their money is being spent on a solid product. Vince was embarrassed and feared the sponsors might react negatively to Flair's words.
Those backstage felt the "verbal beatdown" got so bad that there was fear Flair would be fired on the spot. McMahon reportedly kept the legend at RAW past midnight just to continue chewing him out.
