-- An Austin return has been considered likely in WWE since Austin met with Vince McMahon on 8/23 when RAW was in Anaheim. Right now there are not any definitive plans for his return, however both sides are expressing interest in trying to come up with a good storyline that would bring him back. If they were to bring him back, they would want to do it around December or January, in order to use him to build up for WrestleMania. Right now it doesn’t look like there are any storylines set in stone, or even anything more than just discussions coming up that they are interested in working with each other again.
What is known for sure, is that Austin could not do anything until the movie he is in, “The Longest Yard”, is released. Which means he is tied up until October/November.
-- While there currently are no plans on having Hulk Hogan returning, his appearing on Smackdown is a major step on both sides. It is said that the whole McMahon family, aside from Vince, hates the idea of using Hulk Hogan. Apparently, Vince was the only one not strongly against using video footage of Hogan on Smackdown.
However, like Austin, Hogan is likely angling to play a role at WrestleMania, and has been throwing his name around in the wrestling world again with TNA, as well as New Japan Pro Wrestling and Dream Stage Entertainment, both located in Japan.
