I found out yesterday, I'd just been listening to Drowning Pool aswell. It's a shame because DP were just about to become even bigger and he was such a talented musician and only 30.

Update On The Death Of Drowning Pool Singer; Pay Your Tributes, more Story By: Daniel Edler August 16, 2002
-- It is being reported by some sources close to the band, that Drowning Pool lead singer Dave Williams, who died on Wednesday afternoon aged 30, may’ve died through complications from the consumption of excessive amounts of alcohol.
With an official report not yet released, speculation suggests that Williams may’ve died in his sleep, after regurgitating and then choking on his own vomit, the same way that AC/DC front man Bon Scott passed away.
-- A reader has also informed me that "97.9" were running a sick competition whereby the caller who correctly guessed the cause of death would win a CD.
-- A public funeral service is planned for this Sunday, August 18th at 2PM sharp at the Piano Centre, located at 2000 East Spring Creek Parkway in Piano, Texas. It is advisory to arrive earlier, and is open to all who want to come an pay tribute.
-- And finally, the remaining members posted the following thought on the official Drowning Pool website, DrowningPool.com:
"We lost a band-mate and a best friend today. Dave Williams was one of a kind, and a friend to everyone he met. He was a good man, and a giving person. Not a day went by when he wasn't giving somebody a little present, and touching everyone around him with his passion. He was full of energy until the day he passed, and undeniably full of life. To the end, we were having a great time. We will miss him."

I was listening to the Radio 1 Rock Show Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and apparently Dave died because of natural causes, I think they said a heart attack.

From MTV News:
Contrary to speculation, Drowning Pool singer Dave Williams died from natural causes, according to a coroner's toxicology report.
It was concluded last Friday that the 30-year-old singer died from cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle, the report said. Williams' condition, concentric left ventricular hypertrophy, prevents blood flow from the left ventricle to the right. Williams was never diagnosed with the disease, the cause of which is unknown.
The report also states nasal swabs showed no traces of cocaine and the drug was not found in his system.
The Dallas-based Drowning Pool were on tour with Ozzfest when Williams' body was discovered on their tour bus in Manassas, Virginia, on August 14 .
A public funeral was held August 18 in Plano, Texas, and plans for a DVD chronicling Williams' life is in the works.
