While talk towards bringing back old talent like Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage, and others began to get really intense a few weeks ago, Vince McMahon is supposedly growing against the idea.
It is not known whether he's just no longer interested, or if he is saying this to cover up the fact that he cannot get certain people to agree to appear at the event, but Vince is said to be more interested in having WrestleMania focus on WWE's current stars, and help build future main-eventers.
Some top stars from the past are still likely to appear, but some of the dream matches that were being talked about in the lockerroom recently are not as likely. For instance, the discussed Ric Flair vs. Steamboat match and the discussed (but physically impossible) Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle matches are not likely to happen, but WWE has suggested Angle vs. Flair, which could very well happen.
Many would compare this to WWE's RAW X from many months ago. Everyone from Bret Hart to Stone Cold (who, at the time, was not with the company) were rumored for returns at the show, but no ex-main-eventers ended up appearing. It's looking more and more like WrestleMania may end up happening sans a lot of the legends. However, if deals could be worked out that WWE finds very favorable, some guys may return.
