He talked about showing the lighter, or softer side of Vince McMahon in his book. He said that was a side Vince wouldn't show the public or the mainstream media because it isn't something he concerns himself with. Austin described his feud with Vince McMahon as a change for his character at the time. Up to that point, he said, he had been a violent, aggressive and unpredictable character to an anti-authority figure. He said feuding with McMahon and the "Boss" character made that possible. He said the feud was during the time he was having the most fun of his career. He said the promos between him and McMahon were all ad lib and not scripted.
