- The idea to turn Jonathan Coachman heel was suggested and developed by Vince McMahon. McMahon, frustrated with Coach being too "bland" and "passive" as a babyface announcer, approached Coachman and told him of the plans several days before the angle transpired. McMahon's main goal was to get Coach over with a distinct character and to that extent, fed him all his anti-JR lines through the headset he was wearing. After the show, Coachman apologized to Ross for the comments.
